In the history of Major League Baseball, no team has as distinguished a past as the New York Yankees. Since their earliest days, Yankees tickets have always meant guaranteed excitement. Things really fell into place for the team in 1920 when Babe Ruth was traded to the team from the Boston Red Sox. At this point, the team were already making a name for themselves after finishing their last season 80-59. Yankees ticket sales shot through the roof once he arrived. By allowing Ruth to focus on his batting skills, the Yankees wrapped up their regular season with 95 wins and record ticket sales at the Polo Grounds, a ballfield they were renting from The Giants. After winning their first American League pennant and going toe to toe against their landlords in the 1921 world series, the team were told they were no longer welcome to rent the stadium. Construction began several months later on the historic Yankee Stadium, the first modern, full-sized stadium in Major League Baseball. This new stadium was planned to accodate their growing fanbase and enable them to sell more Yankees Tickets than ever before. Ironically, the Yankees proceeded to beat The Giants in the 1923 World Series, the inaugural season in their new stadium.

At this point, Yankee history became stuff of legend. Throughout the 20's they won three World Series and three AL pennants. From 1936 to 1964 the team competed in 22 World Series and won 16 of them. In 1973, the Yankees were purchased by an investment group headed by George Steinbrenner. Today, he is currently celebrating over 30 years at the helm of the MLB's most legendary team. When Joe Torre took over management responsibilities in 1995, the team found renewed vitality. His quiet style has brought the team 5 consecutive World Series titles, including consecutive crowns from 1998 to 2000.
