1968 - San Diego is awarded a National League franchise on May 28th during an owners meetings in Chicago.
1970 - The only no-hitter in San Diego Stadium history is thrown by the Pirates' Dock Ellis as he blanks the Padres, 2-0.
1983 - Steve Garvey dislocates his left thumb in a home plate collision vs. Atlanta. The injury effectively ends his National League record streak of 1,027 consecutive games played which is the 3rd longest in major league history.
1984 - The Padres win their first division championship but lose the World Series to the Detroit Tigers.
1990 - An investment group headed by Tom Werner purchases the Padres.
1992 - The Padres host the 63rd All-Star Game.
1994 - The Padres are sold to John Moores and Larry Lucchino.
1995 - The Padres tie a National League record with 9 runs in the 10th inning of a 13-5 victory at Philadelphia.
1996 - Ken Caminiti sets a record as the first Padre to hit a home run in the All-Star Game. The Padres make baseball history in Monterrey, Mexico in a game against the New York Mets in La Primera Serie, the first major league regular season games played outside the United States or Canada. The Padres beat the Dodgers in Los Angeles to win the 2nd division title in club history.
1997 - The Padres play the St. Louis Cardinals in the Padres Paradise Series at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
1998 - The Padres lose the World Series to the Yankees.
1999 - The Padres establish a club record by winning 14 consecutive games.
