An English rock band formed in London, 1976, its original association was with punk rock, and is cited by many as one of the most important groups in that era. The debut album, "Pink Flag" came out in '77, but the '78 "Chairs Missing" showed longer, more atmospheric textures.
Despite artistic differences, they released the LP "Document and Eyewitness," a recording of live performances. In '06, the '70s albums were re-released. In 2000, they played Royal Albert Hall. "Red Barked Trees," an EP from 2010 was again acclaimed, but did not achieve commercial success. In general, Wire's influence always outperformed profit.
