Canucks Attempt to Even Series

Roberto Luongo
Roberto Luongo

A goal merely 59 seconds into the game was just the start the Canucks were hoping for Sunday in Chicago. On what could have been an elimination night, the Canucks had no other choice but to show up, and play the game that we all know they are capable of, and more notably, the game that netminder Roberto Luongo is capable of.
There has been a lot of speculation around Luongo, and whether or not he would be able to pick up his socks and help his team come back from the 3-1 deficit. Until last night, I’d say the chances were slim to none. Seemingly holding on to the ghosts of last year’s series against the hawks, Lou has been looking far from confident in between the pipes, letting in 16 goals from rebounds in this series alone! As the team captain and star play of the Canucks, a lot was riding on Roberto being able to pull it together, and Sunday night he did. With the Luongo we all know back in net, the Canucks’ hope of moving on remains strong!
There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that this series is still very much an uphill battle against the young Blackhawks, but if anyone can do it, it’s the Canucks. Holding the record for most 3-1 comebacks in a playoff series, Vancouver is still looking to redeem themselves.
