Leafs Break 8 Game Loosing Streak

giguereFinally, the Toronto Maple Leafs 8 game loosing streak has come to a close! They were able to pull off a 5 to 4 win over the Nashville Predators last night with exceptional second period play.

Turnovers in the first period and early in the second put the Maple Leafs behind 4 to 1, but undisciplined play by the Predators gave the Maple Leafs a 5 on 3 player advantage which resulted in two goals by Kris Versteeg 10 seconds apart. Excited by the 1 goal deficit, the Maple Leafs rallied and with goals by Mikail Grabowski and Nikolai Kulemin, and were able to gain the lead and hold onto it for dear life in the third. In total, Nashiville got 6 penalties in the 2nd period.

Last night’s game wasn’t the prettiest win by the Toronto Maple Leafs, but an important one nonetheless. It showed that this team has not given up. Even with their captain sidelined for another couple of weeks, the Leafs are ready to work hard and fight for that play-off spot they’ve been eying since preseason.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hope to extend their winning in tomorrow’s game against the New Jersey Devils.

However, starting goaltender Jean-Debastien Giguere will not be in the lineup after leaving in the 3rd period. Starting in goal will be Jonas Gustavsson. See it unfold live.
