On Sunday, the 98th Grey Cup will be played between two of the CFL’s biggest powerhouses. The Montreal Alouettes (12-6) will take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders (10-8). The game kicks off at 6pm ET at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
The Alouettes, led by their quarterback and three time CFL Most Outstanding Player,  Anthony Calvillo, have maintained a dominating presence in the CFL. They have appeared in eight Grey Cups over the past 11 years. Meanwhile, the Roughriders are often referred to as “Canada’s Team,” because of their diehard fans that seem to be spread all across Canada.

MLS Cup Trophy

This year’s MLS Cup to be held in Toronto will be full of surprises, but the weather is not one of them.

For mid-November in Toronto a couple of degrees above 0 is not something to complain about, but for many players competing in Sunday’s MLS Cup, the weather will bring a shock to their system.

By the time the game kicks off at 8:30pm, the temperature should be far below the daily high of 8, but the FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids players have far more important things on their mind.

“I mean it’s the championship,” said Dallas player Atiba Harris originally from St. Kitts and Nevis. “I don’t think the cold weather’s going to bother us, especially when we’re competing in the most important game of FC Dallas history.” Dallas is led by the MLS Most Valuable Player, David Ferreira. Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks return from a five game road trip to take on the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks kicked off their Western Road trip with a 5-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers and will be facing off against the Calgary Flames this evening.

The Blackhawks’ team that the Canucks will face on Saturday has experienced significant reshuffling since last year. Almost half their team were not on the roster for last year’s win. Do the Maple Leafs have what it takes?

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are going into tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers with a lot of speculation surrounding them: can they break their 6 game loosing streak? For a team who started the season with a 9-4 record not many cities other than Toronto would have expected it to deteriorate so fast. In a city that would kill to finally have a winning season, the Maple Leafs started off with high hopes. Dion Phaneuf and other newly acquired players like Kris Versteeg and Giguere as well as young ones with a lot of hype surrounding them such as Nazem Kadri brought Brian Burke’s play-off promises back to mind.

Two of the Maple Leaf‘s last three losses have been in shootouts and with their captain, Dion Phaneuf, sidelined for 4 to 6 weeks after a laceration to his leg against Ottawa, it is not time to give up hope on our Toronto Maple Leafs. Just like they started, they can turn this season around and finish strong. Read More

With the last regular season CFL games this past weekend, the 2010 Playoff teams are now set. The regular season concluded with the Montreal Alouettes and Calgary Stampeders taking decisive leads, while the BC Lions squeaked in thanks to a loss by the Edmonton Eskimos and a final game victory over the Hamilton Tiger-cats.

ShowTimeTickets.com has tickets to the 98th Grey Cup in Edmonton, but the event has been sold out for months. If the upsets, underdog victories, and action-packed performances from the regular season continues onto the post-season, the run for the Cup will be hotly contested.

The BC Lions fought tooth and nail at the end of the season to secure a playoff run. After a turnaround part way through the season, the Lions have been 7-3 down the final stretch and a late game 23-21 win they have all the momentum they need to make an interesting run in the playoffs. The first BC Lions CFL Semi Final of the year is scheduled to be played against the Roughriders this Sunday. Read More
