You may know Adam Lambert as the runner-up on the 2009 season of “American Idol”, but did you know that before he went on the popular TV game-show, he had made a name for himself in Theater?
Lambert started stage acting as a child. He landed various roles over his short career, the highlights of which were performing as Joshua in “Ten Commandments: The Musical” alongside Val Kilmer, and performing as part of the “Wicked” cast in Los Angeles.
Lambert decided to take a chance on “American Idol”, and the gamble has definitely paid off. He recently signed with RCA, and his debut album, For Your Entertainment, was released in late 2009. Lambert collaborated with some big names in the pop music industry including Lady Gaga, Pink, and Linda Perry to write his songs.
For Your Entertainment is doing very well, coming in at number three on the Billboard 200. It sold nearly 200,000 copies in its first week. Songs like “Sleep Walker” and “Broken Open” highlight Lambert’s pop style and high-reaching tenor voice.
Loved for his dramatic style, Lambert does not take himself too seriously. He revels in entertaining, and is having a great time on stage.
Lambert is taking his glam-pop album on the road. He will be performing at Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam, BC on April 8th, and at River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC on April 9th.
