Hello Out There!

I’m on the air. It’s Hockey Night tonight!
Or should I say hi! My name’s Andrea and I’m one of the new bloggers behind ShowTimeTickets.com Hockey Talk.
canucksOriginally from Winnipeg, my home team left when I was young. Now a West Coast transplant, I have to say I still wear my Jets hoodie with pride. Though I now cheer for the Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg will always have a place in my heart (they’ll be back!).
I can admit to having played foot hockey in the schoolyard in -30 and street hockey in the “Wet coast” rain. Talk about growing up Canadian!
So pull up your laptop, iPad, or monitor, and lets talk about the good ol’ hockey game. The best game you can name!
(Did I mention I have a dorky sense of humour?)

So Long Luo

Robert LuongoAmid a great deal of speculation, it is now official: Roberto Luongo, goalie of the Vancouver Canucks, has officially relinquished his captaincy.
Over the summer months, and especially leading up to Luongo’s return to Vancouver, speculation over his leadership skills have rumbled in. Many fear that his responsibilities have impacted his performance.
In the NHL, it is very rare for a goalie to be captain. Luongo was the first in over 60 years. Luongo took over captaincy from Markus Naslund in 2008.

Canucks Attempt to Even Series

A goal merely 59 seconds into the game was just the start the Canucks were hoping for Sunday in Chicago. On what could have been an elimination night, the Canucks had no other choice but to show up, and play the game that we all know they are capable of, and more notably, the game that netminder Roberto Luongo is capable of.
There has been a lot of speculation around Luongo, and whether or not he would be able to pick up his socks and help his team come back from the 3-1 deficit. Until last night, I’d say the chances were slim to none. Seemingly holding on to the ghosts of last year’s series against the hawks, Lou has been looking far from confident in between the pipes, letting in 16 goals from rebounds in this series alone! Canucks Rally for Game Four

Byfuglien and Louongo
Byfuglien and Louongo

As the Canucks get geared up to take on the Blackhawks tonight, let’s do a quick series recap.
After coming out strong in game one last Saturday, the Canucks find themselves down 2-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals today. The initial cinch win is now a distant memory, but I think I remember a different Louongo playing that game.
Not only did he come through, but he played his most solid game of the finals, making seventeen saves in the first period and thirty-six in all. That a boy, Lou.
What happened in Monday’s game two was another story. It seems, the Blackhawks know that our greatest strength has some rather obvious weaknesses. Louongo likes his space.
After adjusting their line-up, the Hawks pressured the net, leaving Louongo fairly rattled.
This, last year’s tactic, got downright ugly in game three, resulting in some quite unhappy Canucks. Read More
