Ottawa Bluesfest Kicks Off This Week

The seventeenth annual Ottawa Bluesfest kicks off tomorrow, July 6, and will run through Sunday, July 18. Going strong since 1994, the gala is ranked among Billboard Magazine’s list of top festivals worldwide.

As one of Canada’s largest music festivals, the Ottawa Bluesfest has expanded over the years to  accommodate over 200 bands from a broad range of musical genres on multiple stages.

This year’s music lineup is filled with exciting artists like Arcade Fire, Rush, Iron Maiden, Andrew Bird, Crowded House, Joan Jett, The B-52s, John Butler Trio, Hole, Metric, Tokyo Police Club, Santana, Drake, Stars, Keith Urban, Weezer, and The Flaming Lips. The schedule will also include musical performances by well-known actors Kevin Bacon of Bacon Brothers and Kevin Costner of Modern West.

For the first time ever, the festival will feature twelve days of stand-up comedy alongside the music. Popular comedians like Wayne Brady, Louis C.K., and Lewis Black are among many set to entertain.

The events will take place in LeBreton Flats Park, situated next to the Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa.
