Hawthorne Heights is a post-hardcore / emo band that formed in Dayton, Ohio in June of 2001. The band was originally known as A Day In The Life, but changed its name as its music and lineup also changed. Hawthorne Heights is currently comprised of bandmembers JT Woodruff (lead vocals, guitar), Matt Ridenour (bass), Eron Bucciarelli (drums), Casey Calvert (guitar) and Micah Carli (guitar).
The band revealed the orgin of the name Hawthorne Heights on the bonus edition of their The Silence in Black and White DVD. "Hawthorne" is a reference to the author Nathaniel Hawthorne and "Heights" refers to transcendentalism.

Hawthorne Heights released their first album, The Silence in Black and White, in 2004, it introduced audiences to the hit singles "Ohio is for Lovers", "Niki FM" and "Silver Bullet". The video for "Ohio is for Lovers" soon began getting airplay on MTV, and Hawthorne Heights peaked at #55 on the Billboard charts. When their second album, If Only You Were Lonely, was released, it debuted at #3 on the charts, powered by the lead single "Saying Sorry" which has received massive airplay on MTV, VH1 and Fuse. In 2006, the band played with the annual Nintendo Fusion Tour.
