Italian Maestro, Ennio Morricone, began composing music as a six year-old boy in Rome. He started learning the trumpet at the age of nine, and entered a music conservatory at twelve. Though his roots are in classical music, he has written and performed jazz, written pop songs, and worked as a studio arranger for RCA.
Morricone began composing for film scores in the early 1960's and has written for more than 500 films and television productions. Among the many awards Morricone has won for his music are at least fifty Grammy Awards, the Golden Globe Award, and the Polar Music Prize. He has also been nominated for several Oscars.
