Boys Like Girls announce summer tour

Relatively new pop-rock group Boys Like Girls have announced they will be embarking on a North American summer club tour, where they will be playing at smaller venues in anticipation of their second studio album, “Due or Die,” which is set for release in September.

The tour begins on June 19th in Philadelphia, PA with opening acts Never Shout Never and The Ready Set joining the headlining band on their trip through 28 cities, and is set to close on July 31st in Gurnee, IL. Boys Like Girls will also be playing at the Starburst Summer Concert Series at Six Flags on top of their club appearances, which are included in the tour listings below.

The band is looking to build off of the success of their self-titled debut studio album which was released in 2006 and reached the 55 spot on the Billboard 200. Boys Like Girls tickets are on sale now.

Heaven and Hell close out the summer with tour

For the third summer in a row, Heaven and Hell, led by frontman and rock legend Ronnie James Dio, will be touring across North America, this time exclusively in the month of August. Dio, along with bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice, will be performing a total of 15 concerts during their month long tour, beginning in Vancouver, BC at the UBC Thunderbird Arena on August 7. Joining them on tour is opening act Coheed and Cambria, who will be playing at every stop except for the Seattle show on August 8th, which will be opened by Neurosis. Vancouver will be the only Canadian stop on this tour, much to the chagrin of other Canadian fans, but if you can, be sure to check out Heaven and Hell before their tour ends on August 28th in Boston.

Stars on Ice 2009 Canadian stops less than a week away!

Well, the 2009 tour has been underway since late January and so far it has received some pretty positive reviews! The touring show of world-class skaters, founded by Scott Hamilton in 1986, has been hitting major stops in the United States since it kicked off and is now currently in the midst of a two week break before they continue on their Canadian leg of the tour. The first stop will be in Halifax, Nova Scotia on April 23, and will continue west to their final stop on May 12 at GM Place in Vancouver, BC, with a number of shows in between.

It will be quite a wait before the 2010 Tour is underway, so if you’re a fan of figure skating of this caliber, be sure to check out the show before it is too late! If you’re unfortunate enough to miss it, be sure to reserve your tickets for the 2010 tour, which will be sold in advance until June 1, 2009.

And I say hello…

Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog! I look forward to posting new concert announcements, reviews and just general music talk all the time!

Why am I blogging about concerts? There’s nothing I enjoy more than live music! I’ve been to hundreds of concerts…I started a list once, but nearly drowned in a sea of ticket stubs…perhaps this blog will be just the place to complete that list!

This past year has been a big concert year for me. I ticked off quite a few boxes on the “Concerts I Have to See Before I Die” list, with the inclusion of The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band. I’m still waiting on Led Zeppelin to announce a tour (I’m convinced it’s only a matter of time) and Paul McCartney (1/4 of the Beatles is likely the closest I’ll ever come). Along with the legends, I’m a huge fan of anything “brit-rock” (SEE the Editors if you get the chance) and like to check out the local Vancouver scene every once in a while as well (insert shameless plug for my friends in Whitfield, Retrograde, TV Heart Attack & Sweetheart).

Well, stay tuned for much more! This is gonna be a big week for me!

Cheers, M
