Russell Peters is all new on his latest tour

Brampton, Ontario’s Russell Peters is best-known for drawing from his Indian-Canadian heritage and poking fun at racial stereotypes. It’s material that’s rocketed him to comedy superstar status, along with a scattering of movie and TV gigs.
I mean, who hasn’t heard this routine on his experiences growing up as an immigrant child:

As far as comedians go, he’s the big kid on the block with a huge global fanbase – having set attendance records in Oman, South Africa and Singapore among other places – and he’s coming to a city near you. His Notorious World Tour is in Edmonton Thursday before heading to Vancouver for a DJ gig at the FIVESIXTY nightclub (Russell Peters at CIRQUE tickets) and a stand-up gig at Rogers Arena Saturday night.

In addition to his stand-up, Russell Peters is apparently a DJ too. Who knew?
In addition to his stand-up, Russell Peters is apparently a DJ too. Who knew?
After Vancouver, the tour loops eastward before finishing off in Los Angeles, CA on December 7th.
His focus on racial comedy is what made him famous, and his latest tour is said to draw from that same motif, but Russell promises new material on his Notorious tour:
From The Vancouver Sun:

“The subject matter will be from the same pool but the jokes will be different,” Peters, 41, said in recent interview in advance of his Notorious World Tour.
“I don’t know about reinventing myself but I feel pressure to write funny stuff that’s comparable to the old stuff. You make sure you’re not just doing inside jokes for the old fans; you want to make the new fans feel welcome too. You want them to feel like, ‘Oh, good, we can get on this party bus too.’”

Tickets to all dates of Russell Peters’ Notorious World Tour can be bought with ShowTimeTickets.com, where we can get you in to see all the hottest shows this summer. Peters is a hit wherever he goes, and is a sure bet for a night of laughs!

Just over 8 months ago, the BC Lions erased a 0-5 start to their season by hoisting the 99th Grey Cup in front of their home crowd at the newly-opened BC Place:

For all the drama that was in 2011, it is now relegated to the past as the 2012 CFL preseason is set to begin tomorrow. Teams have retooled their rosters and coaching staffs – the champion BC Lions have installed former defensive coach Mike Benevides as their head coach – and as last season’s Grey Cup matchup between the Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers showed, every year is a new year for CFL teams. Tomorrow’s preseason kickoff pits the Saskatchewan Roughriders against the BC Lions, and the Toronto Argonauts visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

ufc 149
The game of musical chairs continues on the UFC 149 fight card in Calgary this summer. Tickets for UFC 149 have long been sold out, but there is still uncertainty about who 18-odd thousand fans will actually see inside the Octagon come July 21st.
So here is the latest update on the UFC 149 fight card, straight from UFC.com:

UFC 149 and UFC on FOX 4 have swapped stars after another pair of injuries shook up the summer fight scene today.
British middleweight Michael Bisping has been injured and is out of his UFC 149 bout against rising force Tim Boetsch. Stepping in to meet “The Barbarian” will be Hector Lombard, a former Cuban Olympian who rides a 25-fight unbeaten streak into his Octagon debut.
Lombard had been slated to fight Brian Stann in the main event of UFC on FOX 4 in August, but was left opponentless earlier today after Stann was forced to withdraw due to injury. That event got a new headliner in the form of Shogun Rua, who’d been left orphaned on the UFC 149 fight card after planned opponent Thiago Silva was hurt.
Two Thiagos Injured, Off Canada Card updated June 4
Two of the UFC’s top Thiagos have suffered injuries forcing them off the UFC 149 fight card, as Thiago Alves is out of his bout against Siyar Bahadurzada, while Thiago Silva has had to withdraw from his co-main bout against former light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua.
Stepping in to the welterweight bout in Alves’ place is Chris Clements, a striker from London, Ontario, Canada, who won his UFC debut at UFC 145 in April. Read More

Injury forced Thiago Silva from UFC 149
Tickets to UFC 149 sold out within minutes of their release, but the fight card continued its changing ways as injuries forced both light-heavyweight Thiago Silva and welterweight Thiago Alves to withdraw from UFC 149. Silva was originally set to fact Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, while Alves was supposed to fight Siyar Bahadurzada.
Replacements haven’t yet been named, but Glover Teixeira is reportedly favored by UFC President Dana White to replace Thiago Silva against Mauricio Rua.
