Arcade Fire releases single for upcoming film The Hunger games

It’s one of the most eagerly-anticipated films for the spring, and just in case fans of “The Hunger Games” novel series didn’t have enough to drool over, Montreal rockers The Arcade Fire have just released a new single that will be feature in the film’s soundtrack. The single is titled “Abraham’s Daughter” and is slated to play during the closing credits. The Arcade Fire are just one many notable artists that will feature in “The Hunger Games” soundtrack that will be released on March 20, a list that includes Taylor Swift and Kid Cudi.

From Billboard.com:

“Abraham’s Daughter” takes the “Hunger Games” soundtrack to a more intimidating place than its previously-released first single, the gentle and folksy “Safe and Sound,” from Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars. From its military-style percussion to the industrial distortion that opens and closes the track, the Regine Chassagne-led “Abraham’s Daughter” channels the film and book franchise’s strong dystopian themes.

Prince is an amazing guitarist.

Okay, maybe that’s not necessarily news to anyone, but we recently saw this four-year-old video of Prince performing “As My Guitar Gently Weeps” with a stage full of rock royalty at a 2008 VH1 Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Listen to that guitar solo. Look at the expressions on his bandmates’ faces. It’s no wonder that Prince, after decades in the business, is still widely regarded as one of the best live acts anyone can see.

Where’d Kanye West get those samples, anyway?

You’re about to find out! Courtesy of YouTube user lupEND88, here’s a video contrasting Kanye’s hit tracks like “Jesus Walks,” “Stronger,” and “Flashing Lights” with the original source material. It’s often very difficult to hear the original material, as he’s altered it so much, and it’s fascinating to see how diverse his taste is: everything from Luther Vandross and Aretha Franklin to Tommy James and the Shondells. Lady Gaga does “Edge of Glory” Live on Howard Stern

After what seems like a dozen singles, a hundred ridiculous outfits, and a smattering of reactions ranging from shock to adoration to indifference over the past few months, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that Lady Gaga is undoubtedly one of the most talented artists on the Billboard pop charts. Watching her performance on Howard Stern TV, though, it’s impossible not to be reminded of the artist formerly known as Stefani Germanotta’s incredible talent.
