Check out this great cover of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend”

From Danish singer Christopher comes this live, acoustic version of pop diva Robyn’s Top 40 hit “Call Your Girlfriend.” We can’t get enough! Of course, the original song being so fantastic doesn’t hurt.

For reference, here’s the original.

Who do you think does the song better? Does Robyn’s synth-pop beat out the mellowness of Christopher’s version? Let us know in the comments below!

New Mars Volta album info leaked!

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala are having a busy year. Their original band, At The Drive-In, has returned for a series of wildly popular shows, and now details of their upcoming album as side project The Mars Volta have leaked.

Set to release in 2012, the new Mars Volta album is apparently titled Noctourniquet, a combination of the words “nocturne” (a musical composition inspired by the night) and “tourniquet,” a type of bandage used to control bleeding.

Album art is shown as well (although difficult to see behind the reflection of the person snapping the picture): what looks like a pattern of circles over a gradient at a 45-degree angle which somewhat resembles the Earth’s horizon at sunset.

Expect new tour dates from Omar, Cedric, and company–both as At The Drive-In and as The Mars Volta. Stay tuned for information on dates and tickets!

Radiohead announce 2012 North America tour dates

UK experimental stadium-rockers Radiohead have announced a new live concert tour, due to begin in February 2012, and fans are all a-twitter on Twitter (and Facebook, and Reddit, and pretty much everywhere on the Internet).

Announced via an email to people who bought a pay-what-you-want copy of their recent album In Rainbows (which includes most of us here at the office) via their “WASTE UK” site, the tour so far covers Florida, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Colorado, and Arizona, with more dates on the East and West coasts expected to be announced soon.

Check out our Radiohead tickets page for more info on the 2012 Radiohead tour, as well as tickets and show times.

Pearl Jam’s new song is available for free.

After a couple of decades of sold-out arena shows, Pearl Jam have stretched the definition of the term “alternative.” It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t know who they are, and of those people, it’s harder still to find someone who doesn’t enjoy hits like “Even Flow.”

The band is touring now, with a show at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum scheduled for September 25th. In the mean time, download their new track, “Ole,” here.

Harmonimix (James Blake) remixes Destiny’s Child – “Bills Bills Bills”

It boy James Blake churns out a seriously strange version of Destiny’s Child’s “Bills Bills Bills” under his “Harmonimix” moniker. Check it out below, and check with us for James Blake tickets if you feel like seeing him live–he’s on tour now with stops in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom, Seattle at the Showbox Theatre, Chicago at the Metro, DC at the 9:30 Club, and Brooklyn at the Music Hall of Williamsburg starting late September.
