Canada Holds Promise for Ice Dance Gold

ice danceThe Olympic Winter Games are not all muscle and might. Ice dancing is an elegant sport that embraces strength along with style. The 2010 Olympic ice dance season is developing into an exciting first for Canada.
Ontario natives, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, are all the rage in the ice dancing world today. They advanced into first place yesterday after scoring high on their original program. The theme for the original dance competition was country/folk, and although many participants had critics turning their heads, the Canadians opted for a classic Spanish look and rhythm.
Virtue and Moir showed off their speed and precision with a sharp program that propelled them into the lead. The pair competed almost flawlessly in the two competitions held thus far, the first of which earned them a standing ovation.
Virtue and Moir compete in the free dance today, and have a very good chance of reaching the top of the podium. If they do capture gold, they will be the first North American ice dancing team ever to do so.
