Canada vs Spain Davis Cup tie roster announced

Call it a blessing in disguise. Next week’s Davis Cup tie between team Canada and team Spain out at the University of British Columbia will be missing some of the biggest names in tennis, but the odds of the home side advancing over the top-ranked Spaniards just got a lot better.
Rosters for the two teams were announced today. No. 1-ranked Spain will be missing Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco, sending a team comprising of Nicolas Almagro Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, Marcel Granollers, Marc Lopez and Albert Ramos. Representing the home side will be world #15 Milos Raonic, Vancouver’s own Vasek Pospisil, doubles specialist Daniel Nestor and Frank Dancevic.

In a few weeks’ time, some of the best tennis players in the world touch down in Vancouver for the 2013 Davis Cup.
