The Reds Defeat Motague But It Ain't Over Yet

In the first game of the CONCACAF preliminary round yesterday, the Toronto FC defeated CD Motague 1 to 0 at BMO Field.

ChadBarrettThe game’s only goal came at the 20 minute mark when Dwayne De Rosario split the defense, leaving Walter Flores, the Motague goal k eeper, alone with TFC’s Chad Barrett who was able to put a left footed kick to the back of the net. Toronto FC was hungry for another goal, and dominated the majority of the game play, including the shots (13 – 4), but they were unsuccessful.

A number of TFC players expressed their frustration with not being able to widen the lead in this aggregated series. While the Toronto FC is getting ready to face their Western Conference equals, FC Dallas, on Saturday, the Reds are also preparing for a much harder fight ahead of them.

The game this weekend will be a good indicator of how the Eastern and Western MLS conferences compare, as well as how far the Toronto FC has come in the 3 years since they entered the MLS.
