Toronto Gets Behind Reds

TFCToronto FC tickets are in high demand. Leading up to the first season, team owners, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, did not expect the MLS team to be as popular as it was. They were hoping for an attendance of 13,000 to 15,000 fans per game at BMO Field, which has a capacity of 20,148 seats. Beyond anticipation, the bustling, multicultural city of Toronto got behind the “Reds,” and has continued to exceed expectations.
For the majority of TFC games, BMO Field has been packed to the rafters with loyal and rambunctious fans. The scene in Toronto is reminiscent of European soccer, but being the only MLS team in Canada, it is definitely unique.
“What we have here is something special, something that reflects the city of Toronto and the passion we have, and it’s something you can’t find with any other team in the city,” said Jack DePoe of the Red Patch Boys in an interview with ESPN.
Currently there are 16,000 season ticket holders for the TFC, meaning that for each game there are only 400 available tickets to the general public. Those tickets are hard to come by, considering the fact that there is a 14,000 person waiting list for season tickets.
