David Beckham may not have been selected to play at the London Olympics, but his loss has definitely been the box office’s gain as tickets for the hotly-anticipated match between the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps are all sold out. Whitecaps Tie Toronto FC 1-1

vancouverwhitecapsIt’s been quite the contrast for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Wednesday’s game against the Toronto FC at Empire Field saw a 1-1 draw, a tough pill to swallow when in their first MLS game they beat the TFC 4-2.
Though the Caps gave it a good go on Wednesday night, the issue seems to be the lack of scoring. After being revved up for the second half, they ended up with a post strike, a header that missed, a 20-yard drive that went off the crossbar, and a shot that went high from eight yards away.
Close, but no cigar.
It seems to be unfortunate for the Whitecaps that they’ve only won 2 of their 14 games played so far, drawing half of those.
Despite that they still managed to draw a crowd of 15,500 for 20,000 seats. That’s great for the Caps, especially when Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals were at Rogers Arena the same night.
One thing the Caps will have going for them is a weekend off, while Toronto is set to play Colorado before next week’s game.
Cheer on your home team! The next game for the Whitecaps is Wednesday, May 25th at 5 pm PDT at BMO Field in Toronto against the Toronto FC. Next home game is Saturday, May 28th at 2:30 pm PDT at Empire Field in Vancouver. Don’t miss out, get your tickets.

MLS Cup Trophy

This year’s MLS Cup to be held in Toronto will be full of surprises, but the weather is not one of them.

For mid-November in Toronto a couple of degrees above 0 is not something to complain about, but for many players competing in Sunday’s MLS Cup, the weather will bring a shock to their system.

By the time the game kicks off at 8:30pm, the temperature should be far below the daily high of 8, but the FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids players have far more important things on their mind.

“I mean it’s the championship,” said Dallas player Atiba Harris originally from St. Kitts and Nevis. “I don’t think the cold weather’s going to bother us, especially when we’re competing in the most important game of FC Dallas history.” Dallas is led by the MLS Most Valuable Player, David Ferreira. Toronto Gets Behind Reds

TFCToronto FC tickets are in high demand. Leading up to the first season, team owners, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, did not expect the MLS team to be as popular as it was. They were hoping for an attendance of 13,000 to 15,000 fans per game at BMO Field, which has a capacity of 20,148 seats. Beyond anticipation, the bustling, multicultural city of Toronto got behind the “Reds,” and has continued to exceed expectations. Read More
