2013 Davis Cup pits Spain against Canada at UBC's Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre

In a few weeks’ time, some of the best tennis players in the world touch down in Vancouver for the 2013 Davis Cup. This year’s tournament matches up the world #1-ranked Spanish team against team Canada in the first round of play. While rosters likely won’t be announced until 10-day deadline prior to the start of the tournament, it’s already been confirmed that Spanish superstars Rafael Nadal and Davis Ferrer will miss the Vancouver (Nadal due to stomach ailments and Ferrer to scheduling conflicts).
The absence of Nadal and Ferrer means a better chance for Canada. Likely included on the team from the host nation will be world #13-ranked Milo Raonic in men’s singles, doubles specialist Daniel Nestor and Vancouver’s own Vasek Pospisil. It’s hoped that the intimate and raucous atmosphere from last year’s Davis Cup event against France will return to UBC, giving a boost to the home team facing a still-strong Spanish squad.
The 2013 Davis Cup takes place at the University of British Columbia’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre from February 1-3. Don’t miss out on this world-class tennis event – get your Davis Cup tickets today!
