DJ Earworm mashes up every hit song of 2011

DJ Earworm is twisted genius – every year, he takes the 25 most popular songs on the radio and mashes them all into one crazy megamix: Adele, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Foster the People, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and more. It’s somewhere between Girl Talk and Glee, and it’s absolutely going to blow you away.

Since he uploaded the 2011 “United State of Pop” mix less than a week ago, it’s already received almost 4 million hits on YouTube. Check it out for yourself below.

Korean Adele… better than Regular Adele?

The Brit singer-songwriter, famed for her incredible vocal chops, curves, and retro-mod aesthetic, has been taking time off her sold-out tour to get vocal surgery and recuperate. That’s left her fans Adele-less, but for those looking to roll in the deep again, there are few options. Until now.

Meet Korean superstar karaoke contestant Park Jimin, seen here doing a surprisingly Adele-like version of “Rolling in the Deep.” She’s adorable (that sweater!!), but she’s also really, really talented.

One of the best parts of the video: the death-glares coming from the other contestants, which need no translation.

Meanwhile, Regular Adele recuperates from surgery and prepares to pick up a Grammy or two – she’s nominated for six. For up-to-the-minute info on when she schedules her new tour dates, stay tuned – we’ll be posting an announcement via our twitter.

NYC’s Hiro Ballroom to close its doors

New York’s famous Hiro Ballroom, popular for its wide array of club parties and live concerts, will be shutting its doors for good in March of 2012. The venue has been open for eight years as part of the Maritime Hotel, at 88 9th Ave in Manhattan.

No word yet on what will be opening in its place, but according to Societe Perrier, which broke the story, Mark Packer (Lavo, Tao) will be taking over the much-loved space.

Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson spins only the freshest jams.

First he brought you your RDA of vitamins and minerals as the co-founder of Happy Planet Juice. Then he brought you bike lanes as the Mayor of Vancouver. Now he’s bringing you block-rocking beats as a club DJ. Wait, what?

That’s right, Mayor Gregor Robertson temporarily traded in his tux for some turntables at the anniversary party of one of Vancouver’s favorite Saturday night parties, Glory Days at the Biltmore Cabaret.

Well… how about that. Attendees said the Mayor actually knows his stuff, too – if the whole politics thing doesn’t work out, Gregor has a bright future ahead of him as a club DJ.
