Ticketmaster faces class action lawsuit

Two proposed class-action lawsuits have been filed against Ticket Master recently, as two seperate cases of “misconstruing” customers has led to users of Ticket Master seeking damages against the site, including actual and punitive damages, injunctive relief and attorneys’ fees.
The first case arose when a man from New Jersey who had attempted to purchase tickets to The Dead, but was redirected to TicketsNow, a secondary ticket seller subsdiary of Ticket master. However, the problem persisted as the man was charged $830 for four tickets, and was not aware of the face value of the tickets ($99) until they arrived in the mal.  The man seeks action on behalf of Ticket Master users who were redirceted to TicketsNow from Ticket Master after January 15th.
“Within literally minutes of tickets going on sale by Ticketmaster, and often less than one minute later for high-demand events, those tickets are being offered for resale in the secondary market by TicketsNow at greatly inflated prices,” the suit says.
The second case occurred in Massachusetts when a man claimed Ticket Master and TicketsNow engaged in fraudulent misrepresentation, conspiracy and unjust enrichment, after the man had been redircted to TicketsNow in a similar fashion to that of the first case. This time it is alleged that the man had purchased two tickets from TicketsNow for $455.50, but later received an email stating he had purchased 9 tickets at a $90 face value, yet charged for $2,064.25.
The validity of these claims has yet to be established, however, we will update the story as news comes in.

Blink 182: reunited and touring!

Blink 182 members Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis barker are set to tour over the course of this summer as they reunite nearly five years after splitting up, playing a total of 47 cities over the three month reunion tour. The tour begins July 24th in Las Vegas and continues to October 3 in Atlantic City, with an eight show stint in Canada through July and August.

Best known for their late-90’s hits such as “What’s My Age Again?,” “All The Small Things,” and “The Rock Show,” Blink 182 hasn’t actually released any new music since their self-titled album in 2003, but that isn’t stopping them from trying to give their fans an amazing experience: “After a four year break, we’re ready to get out on the road and play what we hope will be the most amazing tour of the season,” said Hoppus.

Not only has the band worked hard with promoters to ensure the Blink 182 tickets remain affordable, but the all-star lineup of bands touring with the trio will make every ticket worth the price of entry. Fans can expect sets from Weezer, Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Panic at the Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French, playing at selected stops on the tour.

STT attends luncheon, "breaks through barriers"

Founder and CEO of ShowTimeTickets.com, Mario Livich, along with the Director of Marketing and Web Development, Serena Hillman, attended an industry luncheon yesterday afternoon to gain a better understanding of the possible uses of public relations and social media in preparation for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics.

Media Madness

The event, “Media Madness: How to Break Through the Barriers,” was hosted by two experienced professionals: Betsy Cooper, a seasoned public relations professional who has worked on PR campaigns for the likes of Molson, Labatt and NFL Canada, and Marni Wedin, a long-time writer/producer who has written and produced over 1,000 hours of both studio and magazine-style programs.
Together they instructed guests on how to strategically plan their media campaigns to garner attention during the Olympics media blitz by pitching to the media, developing relationships, and using social media to break through!

Canucks out as Blackhawks move on

After a long and hardfought series, the Vancouver Canucks finally fell to the young and determined Chicago team that had been written off as an inexperienced group of kids since the start of the playoffs. Having beaten Calgary in the first round, Chicago began to turn heads, and continued to do so as they tied up the series with Vancouver on two occassions, in both the second and fourth games.
The Canucks went into this series as the favourites, despite showing signs of struggle against the Hawks in the opening game, then being shutdown 6-3 on home ice in the second game. But no matter how hard they tried, or which tactics they employed, the Canucks could not solve the Blackhawks and found themselves traling 3-2 in the series as they headed back to Chicago for Game 6.
It was a sea-saw battle for 53 minutes as both teams lost and regained the lead; a number of Vancouver’s fourth-liners stepped up to keep their team in the game, Shane O’Brien especially, having scored his first playoff goal in the second period to tie the game at three a piece.
Although the majority of the Canucks made their resence known in the United Center, one integral member of the team failed to live up to the standards of not only the fans, but himself as well. Roberto Luongo, for the first time as a Canuck, let in seven goals in one game, and had this to say after the game: “We had some chances early and I made some saves, but the rest of the way I didn’t help my teammates out,” continuing, “When you let in seven goals, I don’t think that’s a very good performance.”
While the loss can’t be placed entirely on Luongo’s shoulders, it was a dissappointing loss for the team and fans of Canadian hockey as the Canucks were the last of the Canadian teams to be eliminated from the tournament. Now fans must wait a grueling four months before they can see how this team will rebound.

Heaven and Hell close out the summer with tour
