The musical, Little Women, is based upon Louisa May Alcott's 1869 classic novel by the same name. Adapted to the stage by Allan Knee, the story follows four sisters named Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth. Set in Concord, Massachusetts, the girls are left home with their beloved Marmee while their father is away as a Union Army chaplain during the American Civil War. While on Broadway, the musical was nominated for the Tony Award and three Drama Desk Awards.
Told in a series of vignettes as if written by one of the sisters named Jo, Little Women is a timeless classic that affords the whole family an opportunity to see how such a critical time in our Nation's history effected the literature and lives of its citizens.
