Ernie is a stage play that was created by Mitch Albom. The story's subject surrounds Hall of Fame broadcaster, Ernie Harwell. With a love of baseball, Harwell broadcasted for the Detroit Tigers for forty summers.
Known as "The Voice of the Tigers," Harwell was named Michigan Sportscaster nineteen times by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He was also inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1998.
