With first performances on the street corners of New York in 1986, Rockapella, an American a cappella vocal group, played with a hat on the sidewalk. Business cards led to paid parties and other events, until Kathie Lee Gifford arranged a spot on the "Morning Show" with Regis Philbin. Rockapella performed original vocal music with elements of pop and world music.
The original group consisted of all Brown University alumnae, but personnel changes were inevitable after writing and performing the theme for 295 episodes of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Recent appearances have included the Boston Pops.
