Born in Baltimore in 1986, Mario Dewar Barrett is an American R&B singer, actor, model, dancer and philanthropist. First fame came from the singles, "Just a Friend" ('02) and "Let Me Love You" ('04), which won two Billboard Awards. He has appeared in the films, "Step Up" with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, and "Freedom Writers" with Hilary Swank.
He released four studio albums, "Mario" ('02), "Turning Point" ('04), "Go!" ('07) and "D.N.A." ('09). He is currently working on a fifth album, possibly titled "Mario Barrett." Mario is part of a production team called Knightwritaz, and oversees the Mario Do Right Foundation for kids whose parents are drug-addicted.
