Phish is an American band geared toward improvisation, covering an immense variety of genres. Formed at the University of Vermont in 1983, they played for twenty years together and reunited in '09. They developed a large following by word of mouth.
One of the band's early attempts was "The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday," guitarist Trey Antonio's senior project at Vermont, a nine-song conceptual experiment. In '92, the reunited group appeared at the H.O.R.D.E. Festival. They released "Hoist" in '94, and the MTV video "Down with Disease" to promote it. Phish appeared at the Austin City Limits Festival, and headlined Bonnaroo in '09.
