Mark William Morris, born in 1956, is an American dancer, choreographer and director. Originally based in Seattle, his attempts to study Flamenco in Spain were thwarted by the Franco regime. Returning to the Pacific Northwest, he gathered friends to form "On the Boards" before becoming Dance Director in Brussels, 1988.
In 1990, he established the "White Oak Dance Project" with Baryshnikov. He has served as choreographer for the ballet companies of San Francisco, ABT, Boston and Paris, plus numerous opera companies, such as the Met, NYC Opera, the English National and Covent Garden. He collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma on the film, "Falling Down Stairs."
