An English goth rock band formed in 1979, The Sisters of Mercy attained early underground fame in the UK. Their commercial breakthrough came in the mid '80s, when they went on strike against their record company and became a "touring only" band. They did release three studio albums, the last one with the 1990 incarnation, but ceased recording in '93.
The '90 album, "Vision Thing," was supported with a world tour, and the band is still revived for occasional short tours. Playing unreleased songs from '06, they toured extensively in North America and Europe. In 2011, they celebrated a 30th Anniversary with two nights in Leeds.
