Stephen Malkmus was the lead singer/songwriter for Pavement, the 90s indie band, and Jicks was formed in 2000. Their first record, with the working title, "Swedish Reggae," was eventually called "Stephen Malkmus," made with Matador Records in 2001.
The official live debut occurred at New York's Bowery Ballroom. The second record, "Pig Lib," came out in '03 with lengthy guitar solos and increased performance times. "Face The Truth" received good reviews in '05, and the fourth studio album, "Real Emotional Trash," was produced by SnowGhost Music in Whitefish, Montana. Malkmus toured with Pavement in 2010, and the band released "Mirror Track" with Beck Hansen.
