The Spazmatics is an '80s New Wave cover band in the comedic pop rock genre, self-portrayed as nerds and performing in a kitch style. The group was conceived by Wizard of Odds (Perfect World Entertainment manager, Jamie Brown.) Brown developed the retro-genre with the Boogie Knights, a '70s cover band.
The group often performs fifteen or more shows per month. Formed in 1983, they are a result of a string theory debate wager between a professor and student. Having no musical background among them, they imitate multiple sounds and styles.
