Matthew Sweet Tickets

Born Sidney Matthew Sweet in 1964 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the American rock/power pop musician collaborated with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe under the name "Community Trolls" while in school. Signing a solo contract with Columbia, he released the album, "Inside" in '86 to good reviews. He joined A&M Records for a second, "Earth" in '89, but as with the first, did not experience commercial success.

Signing with Zoo Entertainment, "Girlfriend" came out in '91, and was to be his breakthrough, earning MTV time and being set to Japanese animation. "Altered Beast" of '93 did not measure up to the same success. In '06, Sweet released a set of '60s classics with Susanna Hoffs from Bangles, "Under The Covers, Vol. 1." "Sunshine Lies" came out in '08 and in 2010, the Berkeley Repertory Theater staged "Girlfriend."
