The American rock band, Blind Melon, has undergone two incarnations, the first from '89 to '99, and the second from 2006 on. The name is taken from an old blues artist, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Cheech & Chong's parody of him. Their single, "No Rain," is their most memorable release. The '95 death of lead vocalist Shannon Hoon halted the band's activities, and they disbanded in '99.
Their self-titled debut album sold poorly until the "No Rain" release. The second album was entitled "Soup." The band performed well at Woodstock. They reformed in '06 with Travis Warren and released a four-track EP, "Deep Cuts," with Capitol Records. The word is out for a new front man with "big shoes to fill."
