Death From Above 1979 is a Canadian dance-punk/noise rock duo that formed in Toronto. 1979 is the birth year of the founder, and legal issues surrounded the band's use of the name for a time. They signed with Gang Records in the U.S. and with 679 Recordings in the U.K.

Releasing just one album, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine, they did produce several EPS such as "Heads Up" in '02, "Romantic Rights EP" in '04 and "Live Session" in '05. They broke up in '06, but have assembled a reunion tour for 2011, with events at numerous festivals.
