A famous R&B "dance/vocal" group from Los Angeles, The Whispers have been topping charts since 1964, when they were formed in Watts, Ca. Originally made up of twin brothers, Wallace and Walter Scott, Gordy Harmon, Marcus Hutson and Nicholas Caldwell rounded out the quintet.
The Whispers hit #1 on Hot Dance Club with "And the Beat Goes on" and "Can You Do the Boogie?" An '87 hit was "Rock Steady." When Hutson died in '92, the group became a quartet and swore never to replace him.
