Angie Stone, born in South Carolina in '61 as Angela Laverne Brown, is an R&B singer/songwriter with keyboard, acting and producing talents. She was an early 80's member of "The Sequence," a female hip hop trio. Their first hit was "Funk You Up."
As a member of the trio, "Vertical Hold," she was part of two hit albums and the single, "Seems You're Much Too Busy." Showing soul influences in almost everything, her solo debut came out in '99, "Black Diamond." In '06, she acted in a stand-up play, "Issues: We Got Them All."
